The U.S. Coast Guard saved a man and his dog from dangerous waters.

This happened on Thursday during Hurricane Helene, approximately 25 miles off Sanibel Island.

The man’s 36-foot sailboat became disabled and started taking on water.

The Coast Guard got a mayday call around 11 a.m. Thursday.

A helicopter that was staged in West Palm Beach for these situations was able to respond and lifted the man and dog from the boat.

They were flown to Southwest Florida International Airport.

There were no injuries.
