Roadways affected by Milton

As Southwest Florida feels the effects of Hurricane Milton, roads are being affected.

Below, you will find current confirmed information on road impacts caused by the Category 4 hurricane churning in the Gulf of Mexico.

Lee County

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, here are the current known roadway hazards:

  • Inlet Dr-Not Passable – knee-deep water
  • Stipe St. E from Moody Rd – Passable – 4 inches of water
  • Seaworthy Rd at Moody Rd – Passable – 4 inches of water
  • Betmar Blvd at Jayde Ct – Passable – 4 inches of water
  • N Tamiami at E. N. Shore – Not Passable – 6 inches of water
  • May St, Matlacha – Debris on road
  • Eigth Ave. on Pine Island – Road Flooded
  • Pineland Marina – 6 inches of water in road
  • Blind Pass – Water & sand moving in
  • Tween Waters to South Seas – 12 inches of water on road
  • •Beach Access 1 / Beach Park – Waves from beach 
  • •Colonial and Fowler – Trees in the roadway  
  • •Pondella Rd between Barrett Rd and Forsyth. Not Passable- Roof & debris in the roadway. 
  • •415 Snead Dr. Not Passable 
  •  •Skyline Dr. East of Moody. Not Passable, tree.
  • •Cajeput / Bay Rd – 6 inches in roadway. 
  • •25762 Hickory (formerly Bonita Beach RV resort) – 2 feet of water encroaching towards Hickory from back bay. 
  •  •27430 Hickory to 27600 Hickory, water from Gulf 6 inches.
  •  •27692 Hickory to 27730 Hickory, 4 inches.

In Fort Myers, public safety teams are out assessing roadways for debris and downed power lines. The Fort Myers Police Department urges people to stay off the roads and allow officials to do their jobs.

Collier County

Traffic Operations has shut down power at 13 intersections to protect equipment during the heavy wind and rain of Hurricane Milton as well as any storm surge into the traffic signal cabinets. 

Temporary stop signs are in place at the intersections, and drivers are reminded to use extra caution, stay alert and obey all traffic signage.

Below are the affected intersections.

  • Collier Boulevard (SR-951) at Capri Boulevard
  • Collier Boulevard (SR-951) at Mainsail Drive
  • Collier Boulevard (SR-951) at Fiddlers Creek Parkway
  • Collier Boulevard (SR-951) at Fire Station 23 (just south of Manatee Road)
  • Collier Boulevard (SR-951) at Manatee Road
  • Collier Boulevard (SR-951) at Walmart (South of U.S. 41)
  • U.S. 41 at Commercial Drive /Palm Street
  • U.S. 41 at Bayshore Drive/Shadowlawn Drive
  • Davis Boulevard at Shadowlawn Drive
  • Vanderbilt Beach Road at North Point Drive
  • Vanderbilt Beach Road at Vanderbilt Drive
  • Vanderbilt Beach Road at Gulf Shore Drive
  • Vanderbilt Drive at Wiggins Pass Road
