Cape Coral firefighters rescue dog from canal, reunited with owner

Firefighters with Engine 3 of the Cape Coral Fire Department rescued a dog from a canal early Sunday morning but have yet to locate its owner.

The dog was found near 2901 SE 19th Terrace and is now safe at Fire Station 3, located at 1627 Everest Parkway.

Firefighters kept the dog at the station until Lee County Domestic Animal Services arrived.

UPDATE per CCFD: HAPPY PUP-DATE!!! Lee County Domestic Animal Services picked up the dog, scanned his chip, and took him home. He has been reunited with his family! Thank you to everyone who shared and cared!
