In the race for Fort Myers city council, Cindy Banyai lost the Ward 4 race to incumbent Liston Bochette.

According to the Lee County Supervisor of Elections office on Friday, the outcome has not changed and Banyai will not receive a recount.

On Thursday, Banyai asked voters to make sure their ballots were counted, hoping to find enough discrepancies for a recount.

Banyai lost to Bochette by just 77 votes or 1.58% of the vote.

Bochette released a statement on Friday, read the full statement below:

I would like to thank the voters in Fort Myers for their confidence and trust in me to lead our City forward and elevate the quality of life for our citizens for another term. I believe in the integrity of our Lee County election system to provide the highest standard of professionalism. We have much to accomplish moving ahead.
