Woman in Punta Gorda shooting charged with 2nd degree murder

A woman in a homicide investigation on Nasturtium Drive in Punta Gorda has been charged with 2nd-degree murder.

Authorities responded to a shooting on Dec. 2 at around 1 a.m. Upon arrival, The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office found Denis “Doc” Carmody dead on the scene after suffering a gunshot wound.

Authorities said that witnesses placed Tiffany Diann May at the property with Carmody.

Witnesses said that May had Carmody’s .38 caliber revolver in her possession. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement later confirmed the information.

Authorities found May on the day of the incident after being arrested for separate charges.

She remains at the Charlotte County Jail and is being held without bond.
