Black bear struck by Jeep on Alligator Alley

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) – One lane of traffic was shut down for about an hour after authorities say a Jeep hit a black bear on Alligator Alley.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 59-year-old Maryland man was driving west on Interstate 75 in Collier County Thursday afternoon when the bear walked into the roadway. The Jeep struck the bear and continued about 100 yards before stopping.

No injuries were reported to the driver.

The condition of the bear wasn’t immediately available.
