MGN FORT MYERS, Fla. – A 31-year-old Naples man was sentenced to 17 years in prison Monday for robbing three Southwest Florida banks in 2014. John Robert Haldemann must also pay more than $15,000 in restitution, including $799.25 to Synovus Bank for damaging the institution’s door during an attempted robbery. Haldemann pleaded guilty in March to robbing the three banks: Capital Bank in Venice in June 2014, and a Wells Fargo Bank in Naples and a Bank of America branch in Punta Gorda in July 2014. Haldemann displayed what appeared to be a firearm during each robbery, federal prosecutors said.
