WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) – The head of Palm Beach County’s largest police union wants the mayor’s spokesman fired for releasing the names of undercover officers and confidential informants.

Elliot Cohen allegedly released thousands of pages of emails to the city’s website last week. The emails were part of an unrelated records request that Cohen accidently released on the city’s website, under the heading “transparency.”

Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association President John Kazanjian said the mistake has jeopardized the lives of officers and their informants. He said one confidential informant for the Drug Enforcement Agency has already been moved to a safe location.

The Palm Beach post (http://tinyurl.com/ocwh6h5) reports the city released a statement defending Cohen, saying he remains a valued member of their leadership and that the incident was a flaw in the process, not a personnel issue.
