CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A man accused of going on a two week robbery spree is now behind bars. Peter Bonagura, 38, was arrested shortly after police say he robbed a Circle K store located on Country Club Boulevard Tuesday night. Cape Coral police caught Bonagura at a nearby Speedway gas station on Del Prado Boulevard when an officer saw him changing clothes and counting money inside his car. Police say clothes in Bonagura’s car matched those worn by the Circle K robber. Witnesses and tips submitted to authorities also linked Bonagura to a robbery on Sept. 25 at the Publix on Del Prado Boulevard and another robbery on Sept. 19 at the Publix in North Fort Myers. Officials say Bonagura is a repeat offender, with six previous arrests in Lee County on a long list of theft and dealing in stolen property charges, drug trafficking, the possession of methamphetamine and two counts of driving under the influence. Bonagura remains on law enforcement’s radar as a suspect in other recent unsolved cases.
