BOSTON (AP) – Lawyers for former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez have asked a Massachusetts judge to allow jurors at his trial to see the SUV prosecutors say Hernandez was in when he killed two men in 2012.

Hernandez is accused of shooting the men after a chance encounter at a Boston nightclub. Prosecutors allege Hernandez was in the passenger seat of a Toyota 4-Runner when he leaned across the driver’s seat and shot at the men’s car, killing Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.

The dealership that loaned the SUV to Hernandez wants it back.

Hernandez’s lawyers argued in court documents filed Tuesday that jurors need to see it because of “numerous contradictions” by witnesses about where people were seated and what they were doing.

A judge didn’t immediately rule.
