Litter leads to drug bust in North Fort Myers

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — A traffic stop for littering turned into an approximately $50,000 drug bust for Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies patrolling Interstate 75 Thursday night.

The deputies said they saw a black bag thrown from a white Toyota Camry that abruptly exited the highway at Bayshore Road. The bag contained more than 2,000 opium-based pills.

The occupants of the Camry, Port Charlotte residents Vladimir Morrobel, 27, and Paige Bayshaw, 23, were arrested and face charges trafficking in opium, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence, the sheriff’s office said.
