PUNTA GORDA, Fla. A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection to multiple car burglaries in the Burnt Store Isles neighborhood, Punta Gorda Police detectives said.
William Tyler Chieffo is accused of stealing a variety of items, and was found at a traffic stop, according to a press release. He was arrested Sunday and taken to the Charlotte County Jail where he is being held without bond.
GPS units, loose change, garage door openers, and personal effects were reported stolen from 13 unlocked vehicles on Feb. 6, detectives said.
In addition, the suspect used a stolen credit card, according to surveillance video obtained by detectives. Home security cameras showing the suspect moving throughout the neighborhood on Feb. 6. also contributed to the identification process.
Chieffo faces charges of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, grand theft, petit theft, theft by taking or retaining possession of a credit card, and grand theft of a firearm, authorities said.
It’s unclear when his next court appearance is.
