FORT MYERS, Fla. SeveralĀ people were arrested at the end of a year-long narcotics operation, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday. Thirteen were arrested Thursday and two previous arrests were made, Lee County Undersheriff Carmine Marceno said in a press conference. A 16th arrest was listed in material the sheriff’s office handed out at the press conference. Eight of those taken into custody through the so-called “Operation High VOL-tage” initiativeĀ were on the county’s most violent offenders list, and one was arrested more than 200 times, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies recovered more than a quarter of a kilo of heroin, several ounces of cocaine and methamphetamine, cash and weapons. Thursday’s arrests took place at seven different locations throughout the county, the sheriff’s office said. Undercover deputies made deals to buy $90,000 in narcotics from suspects who disguised themselves asĀ rappers, day care owners and business owners, among other things.
