Suspect on the loose after man injured in Clewiston shooting

Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred in Clewiston Sunday evening.

According to Captain Susan Harrelle with the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, there is one male victim who has been transported for medical care. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

The shooting occurred on the 100 block of Harlem Academy Avenue in an unincorporated part of Clewiston. It was just off Georgia Avenue across from the Clewiston Country Club.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was shot outside a storefront. It’s unclear what happened leading up to the shooting, but neighbors say it was some kind of a personal dispute related to a previous incident.

Witnesses have reported that the vehicle the suspect(s) drove was black in color but they are not certain of the make, model and year. After the shooting the suspect(s) left the area.
