A woman died in a crash Saturday afternoon along State Rd 80 in Hendry County.

Larry Willis, 32, was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan eastbound through a curve on SR-80 west of Country Rd 833 with a 6-year-old boy. Francesca Antoine, 26, was driving a 2016 Kia Rio westbound along the SR-80 curve.

As Willis tried to pass a slower moving vehicle in a no-passing zone, both the Clewiston man and Antoine swerved toward the north shoulder to avoid a collision, the Florida Highway Patrol traffic report states. The front of Willis’ Caravan struck the left side of Antoine’s Rio.

The Caravan rotated counterclockwise before coming to a stop in the westbound SR-80 lane while the Rio continued north before coming to a halt. Antoine, who lived in Bradenton, died from the incident, per the FHP report. Willis was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The child did not have any injuries.
