Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian in Bonita Springs Saturday night.
According to FHP, Grant Gregory Martek, 54, of St. Augustine was killed in a crash while attempting to cross U.S. 41. south of the intersection with Bonita Beach Road.
Martek was crossing U.S. 41 east to west when he walked directly into the path of a 2018 Toyota Highlander traveling south on U.S. 41. just south of the intersection. The front of the vehicle hit Martek, and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
There was a complete roadblock for several hours before the crash was cleared.
There are no charges pending in the crash investigation.
