The Florida Forestry Service said Tuesday that the 36th Ave. SE fire is 75 percent contained at 8,250 acres.
The FFS said the acreage was reduced from around 8,700 due to better mapping.
Firefighters have spent the last couple of days widening and creating new containment lines.
“The plan for the next couple of days is a continuation of detailed mop-up operations, extinguishing smoking stumps and logs as well as thorough assessment of established and newly created containment lines,” the FFS said.
The FFS said 2.5 inches of rain fell Monday in the area, so “observed fire behavior” has been minimal Tuesday.
