Port Charlotte man dies in vehicle crash

A 30-year-old Port Charlotte man died in a vehicle crash on Wednesday.

The crash happened at Gillot Boulevard and David Boulevard, just before noon, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the man was traveling west, in a pickup, on David Boulevard, approaching the intersection of Gillot Boulevard and disregarded a stop sign.

The driver of the pickup crashed collided with a dump truck traveling south on Gillot Boulevard and was ejected from the pickup.

The dump truck, driven by a 38-year-old man from Port Charlotte, traveled off the roadway and collided with a wooden utility pole.

The driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The driver of the pickup died on scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol does not release the names of individuals involved in traffic crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
