Collier County teen injured in violent parking lot incident
A teenager is fighting for his life after a violent confrontation in Collier County.
Longtime neighbors, friends and even newcomers came together to celebrate a restaurant’s historic anniversary.
The Farmer’s Market Restaurant, located at 2736 Edison Ave. in Fort Myers, has been serving up soul food for 70-years.
This celebration was one to remember with food, live music and a vintage car show entertaining guests of all ages.
“I bought some pecan apple butter,” said Jana Jones.
“I was born and raised here. So, we used to come here with my grandfather. Since we were very small,” said Mike Jones.
Jones, like many others, has been enjoying the Farmer’s Market for years, but this anniversary brought in some exciting first-timers, including Florida’s very own watermelon queen.
“Our season is actually right now. So, I want to just promote the industry and make sure that everyone knows to go into your grocery stores and purchase those Florida fresh watermelons,” said Amber Boykin, Florida Watermelon Queen.
Also on a mission to support the Southwest Florida community is the local Pink Heals chapter, a non-profit organization that partners with local businesses and families.
“We are basically all about showing love to people who are struggling from any kind of catastrophic illness, not just cancer,” said Cheryl Fullon.
Cheryl and Troy Fullon said their organization focuses on celebrating people, not causes.
“We’re here to support this local community. That’s what we do. We work with the locals. And they’ve had some survivors in this restaurant before we’ve come out and visited them. Let them sign the truck and everything,” said Troy Fullon, president of Pink Heals Fort Myers chapter.
Saturday’s celebration was all about community and bringing everyone closer together.
