Free backpack flasher. (CREDIT: Cape Coral Fire Department.) The Cape Coral Fire Department is offering free backpack flashers to help keep students safe as they head back to school. The flashers are to help make students more visible on their way to school in the morning. Fire Chief Ryan Lamb said, “As students head back to school, we want to remind motorists to drive cautiously and stay alert as there will be more traffic, more stopped buses, and more pedestrians. Some students will be walking to school or waiting for the bus well before the sun has risen, and these backpack flashers will help keep those students safe by making them more visible to passing motorists.” Flashers on students’ backpacks. (CREDIT: Cape Coral Fire Department) Parents are invited to stop by any of the City’s 12 fire stations listed below any day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. until Aug. 21 to pick up a backpack flasher for their students.
