Crash kills 40-year-old man in Lee County, currently under investigation

A deadly crash involving three vehicles and a motorcycle happened in Lee County Friday evening shortly before 9:30 p.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old man riding a motorcycle from Fort Myers died in the three-vehicle and motorcycle crash.

A sedan was in the left turning lane going North on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, trying to turn left.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle was going South nearing Gulf Center Drive, while in the outside lane on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

A sports car was stopped on the inside lane of Gulf Center Drive and waiting to turn North onto Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

And a 20-year-old man from Venice driving a different sedan was also stopped. He was on the inside turning lane of Gulf Center Drive waiting to turn North onto Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

The first sedan turned left in front of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to crash with the front of the sedan.

After the first crash, the motorcycle crashed into the front of the sports car and crash debris collided with the front of the second sedan.

The 40-year-old motorcyclist was separated from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
