The Caloosahatchee Bridge closure, rising inflation and low foot traffic. It’s a recipe for disaster that some businesses are trying to stomach.

Now, Grandma Penny’s Pizza in North Fort Myers is the latest business casualty.

They put a closing sign, thanking their customers, that said, “This decision was incredibly difficult to make, but it comes after much reflection on the challenges and rewards of owning a restaurant.”

Owner Carole Dean said that the only relief here is that she will get to spend more time with her family. However, it’s emotional for her because the bridge closure caused a massive decline.

When WINK News was at the restaurant, not many people were inside during a time when most places are usually packed.

Grandma Penny’s last day will be on Friday. They are open from 12-9 p.m.
