City of Palms Classic returns to Fort Myers

The City of Palms Classic basketball tournament will return to the Suncoast Credit Union arena in December.

On Monday, the record-setting field for this year was announced at a press conference.

It includes high school teams from Florida, California, Arizona, Oregon, Texas and others from around the country.

National Bracket:

• Archbishop Carroll High School
• Central Catholic High School
• Christopher Columbus
• Faith Family Academy
• Gateway Charter
• Grayson High School
• Great Crossing High School
• IMG Academy

Sunshine Series:

• Edgewater High School
• Gibbs High School
• Mater Dei High School
• St. Joseph High School

Signature Series:

• Bullis School
• DME Academy
• Dream City Christian School
• Dynamic Preparatory School

Hugh Thimlar Tribute Game:

• Bishop Verot High School vs. Charlotte High School

The 51st annual City of Palms Classic will run from Dec. 18 – 23.

The tournament began in 1973 as a local holiday basketball tournament and has grown and expanded over the years to include the nation’s top athletes and programs.
