The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man accused of road rage and threatening to assault a woman with a machete.

Deputies arrested Mark Zmijewski, 33, on Monday following a disturbance call at the intersection of Via Rapallo Drive and Via Villagio Parkways.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a woman who described being involved in a road rage incident with Zmijewski, who allegedly ran away from the scene.

According to LCSO, Zmijewski closely tailgated behind and flashed his lights toward the female driver for several blocks before the situation escalated at the intersection.

Zmijewski then stepped out of his vehicle, allegedly wielding the weapon before approaching the victim in an attempt at intimidation.

Deputies later located Zmijewski at his residence, where he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He has been currently placed in the Lee County Jail.
