Holiday travel continues for many; however, due to severe weather in the eastern and southern United States, some flights have either been delayed or canceled.

Some delays have been reported for Southwest Florida International Airport travelers, with American Airlines flights to Dallas, Texas, and a Frontier Airline flight to Grand Rapids, Michigan, receiving cancellations.

According to RSW, holiday travel can last until Jan. 5, so the heavier influx of passengers will continue well into the start of 2025.

On Friday, the airport was under a ground stop order between 4 and 5 p.m., further adding to the travel mayhem.

Delays for departures and arrivals are expected throughout the weekend due to the severe weather.
