An officer for the Cape Coral Police Department and his K-9 partner are retiring after a distinguished career in law enforcement.

Officer Chris Clapp began his journey in law enforcement with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office before joining the CCPD in 2001.

In 2002, he earned a spot in Cape Coral’s elite K-9 Unit, dedicating years to serving alongside his K-9 partners Odin, Dux, Kensey, Rock and his current partner, 11-year-old Bane.

Officer Clapp is the longest-serving member of the K-9 Unit, and Bane will be retiring with him, according to a post on the police department’s Facebook page published Monday morning.
