Saint John Baptist Church holds service for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Saint John First Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Myers held an ecumenical service on Sunday morning in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

A guest speaker from a Baptist church in Chicago spoke to the congregation. It was a packed service as the church gears up for more MLK events on Monday.

Residents gathered for the 39th annual ecumenical service at Saint John 1st Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Myers, honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The ecumenical service featured songs, scripture, and sermons. The church welcomed all visitors to the open event.

During the service, speakers encouraged the crowd to remember the history of the day.

On Monday morning, the church and other residents will march, starting at Jupiter Hammond Library in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The march will end at Centennial Park
