The future of the Cape Coral Yacht Club is under discussion following damage from Hurricane Milton.

The hurricane caused electrical issues that led to a fire, necessitating repairs.

The city council has proposed adding a new community center, a resort-style pool, and a larger parking garage.

The proposed budget for these improvements ranges from $120 million to $150 million.

However, the construction company has requested an additional $1.2 million to begin the project.

A local resident expressed concerns about the project, saying, “While it’s decided about what to do with a community center and all that cost, and we need to know where this boat house stands on rebuilding or what they’re doing in terms of their contract. There are a lot of questions to be asked before we give out more money for what’s going on down here at the Yacht Club. That’s my point. Stop, delay, please,” he said.

Further updates on the project will be provided as more information becomes available.
