An East Naples man is now among three Southwest Florida Jan. 6 Capitol rioters released in response to President Donald Trump’s series of pardons.

Christopher Worrell, 53, is a member of the Proud Boys. It is reported that he targeted law enforcement officers with pepper spray during the attack.

After his initial sentencing, Worrell absconded authorities for 45 days and was facing as much as 14 years behind bars.

In September of 2023, he was found back in his home in Collier County faking a drug overdose, which he called a “stupid delay tactic.”

On Jan. 4, 2024, Worell was sentenced to 10 years in prison and was released on Wednesday after Trump’s pardons on his first day in office.

There were two other men involved in the Jan. 6 attack who are now back in Southwest Florida.

Daniel Scott of Englewood and David Moerschel of Punta Gorda returned home Tuesday morning after serving time in prison and being federally charged.
