COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A man attacked a woman outside a restaurant, after she reportedly refused to marry him.

A Collier County sheriff’s report stated 26-year-old Ionut Rizea was arrested Thursday for beating a 44-year-old woman.

The report said the man and woman had met a few weeks ago.

They were at Pelican Larry’s Thursday night in Naples, and Rizea asked the woman to marry him so he “could stay in the United States and not have to return to Romania.”

When the woman said no, it stated Rizea asked her to go outside. Once outside, he reportedly grabbed her and started punching her in the face and head.

Another woman was nearby and told police she witnessed the entire ordeal.

In the report it states, the woman was sitting in her car, when she saw Rizea beat the woman and she started honking her horn.

When Rizea did not stop, the witness got out of her car and ran toward the two, and that was when Rizea took off on foot.

Deputies were eventually able to catch Rizea. He faces charges for battery and resisting.
