LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives have arrested one of the suspects involved in a violent home invasion in Cape Coral last week. Deputies arrested 21-year-old David Monestime, but they are still searching for three more suspects. On March 25 at 9:45 p.m deputies were called to a home in the 11,000 block of Royal Tee Circle in Cape Coral. A husband and wife were home at the time, when they said four suspects armed with two guns and a knife came to their home demanding money. The husband said it was late at night when he heard the front doorbell, so he went to answer it. When he opened the door, no one was there, so he walked out to the porch, and that was when he said he was hit over the head and pushed to the ground. “The guy was kicking away at me, punching and slashing,” the man, who asked to remain anonymous, told WINK News in an exclusive interview. “The one guy I was fighting had a knife and he was slashing and trying to stick me with the knife.” The man said the suspects continued to beat him and kept asking, “where is your money.” “They had my wife and put a gun to her head and said if she didn’t stop screaming they were going to shoot her,” the man said. The man said he was able to fight back and get away from the suspects. He and his wife ran to a neighbor’s house, where he called 911. A later investigation led detectives to suspect, 21-year-old David Monestime from Bonita Springs. Monestime is being held on charges for home invasion robbery with a firearm or other deadly weapon. Detectives are still looking for the three other suspects in this case. If you have any information, call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000.
