FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.- Fort Myers Beach Fire Rescue is rolling out new, neon green ambulances.

Fire officials say they are safer for both the crew on board and patients.

The stretchers can stay in place in the event of a 40 mph crash.

EMTs can also remain buckled in as they provide care.

The fire department paid $570,000 for the new ambulances. You can see them on the road starting Labor Day weekend.
