NAPLES, Fla.- A woman was shot in the leg as she was walking her dog at the Summer Wind Apartments off Pine Ridge Road on Wednesday, Collier County officials said. An active search for a suspect lasted more than three hours, authorities are now looking to speak with any witnesses. Crime scene techs were seen carrying out bags of evidence from a bottom floor apartment. No arrests have been made and the people living their say no comment “it’s an open investigation”. “For me, it’s more of a why,” said resident Wilfredo Ramos. “I’m curious to know if it was something intended? Did it happen to be wrong place, wrong time?” The victim was transported to NCH Downtown Naples Hospital with minor injuries. Osceola Elementary School, Barron Collier High School, and the Greater Naples YMCA were placed on lock down while authorities searched for the suspect. “I was at lunch when it happened and everyone was just running and getting out of hand. I was kinda worried until I found out it was all safe,” said Jordan McLaughlin, a junior at Barron Collier. Officials say there is no threat to the community but they do not know how and why this happened.
