MGN NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – A teenager surfer is hospitalized after being bitten by a shark off Florida. The Volusia County Beach Patrol says the 14-year-old boy from Vero Beach was with four other surfers in waters off New Smyrna Beach when he was bitten on his left hand Sunday morning. A spokesman for the beach patrol tells the Orlando Sentinel the boy suffered “significant lacerations” but punched the shark and returned to shore before being taken to a hospital.
