OCHOPEE, Fla. A fire that caused multiple closures of a nearly 60-mile stretch of U.S. 41 is 75 percent contained as it burns for a 12th day, the National Park Service said.

Firefighters are making “good” progress against the blaze in the Big Cypress National Preserve, park service spokeswoman Jennifer Thelen said. An incident management team brought into the firefight on March 21 has turned the operation back over to local crews.

Campgrounds and trails remain closed within the preserve. The blaze, known as the Parliament Fire, has burned 26,471 acres.

No one has been hurt and no structures have sustained damaged.
