Growing sinkhole in Apopka threatens nearby house

APOPKA, Fla. (WKMG) A family was evacuated from their Apopka home Tuesday morning after a 25-foot-wide sinkhole opened up threatening to swallow their home, Orange County Fire Rescue officials said.

Firefighters responded at 8:22 a.m. to a call about the sinkhole and the family was safely evacuated.

Officials said the sinkhole on West Kelly Park Road is still growing at 15 feet deep.

Duke Energy and building department officials were also called to the scene.
