There is at least one person dead in a multi-car crash that happened outside of the new Atlanta Braves training facility.
Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal crash at the intersection of U.S. 41 and West Villages Parkway in North Port Sunday night.
The crash happened while deputies were directing traffic leaving CoolToday Park, the new Braves facility.
Deputies say a driver slammed into the back of a car, causing a chain reaction, which ultimately involved two other vehicles ahead. An unmanned deputy motorcycle was also involved in the crash.
The dead victim in the crash was in the first car that was hit. The driver of the first car hit was flown to the hospital in critical condition.
North Port Police Department has taken over the active investigation.
