The 20th Judicial Circuit Court reports Yuzo Nishi, 33, of East Naples has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his mother back in 2016.
A jury found Nishi guilty of Second-Degree Murder in June.

Nishi was arrested in December 2016 for killing his mother, Maria Bertalmio, who was 51 at the time of her death. Nishi and Bertalmio were involved in a struggle involving a knife that led to a stabbing that killed Bertalmio.
Nishi told the sheriff’s office and the court on multiple occasions he acted in self-defense. But the court did not side with him.
