Credit: WINK News. Sunday, Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed confrontation on the water off Sanibel Island. Lee County deputies say it all started when the two people on Jet Skis couldn’t hear what someone on a boat was yelling at them, so they got closer and ended up with a gun pulled on them. “I would just freeze,” said Taylor Venters, who was visiting Sanibel from South Carolina. “I would just be like oh my gosh. I would just panic. I would probably run.” Lee County deputies say the two on Jet Skis saw a man and woman on their boat. They heard the man yelling in their direction but couldn’t understand what he was saying, so they got closer and heard him yell, “You’re too close.” That’s when investigators were told he pulled a gun out of a black bag, racked the slide and pointed a gun at the victims. “That’s crazy. That’s completely wild,” Venters said. “I don’t understand why you need to pull your gun out. Like, everybody is here to have a good time. You don’t need to pull your gun out.” The two on Jet Skis sped off and called 911 when they got back to the island. Deputies say the two victims want to press charges against whoever threatened them with that gun. There is no name or the unknown suspect at this time. Venters is happy to hear everyone is OK. “There’s no reason for that,” Venters said. “There’s no reason for a gun. If you don’t want them near, you don’t talk to them.”
