According to Florida Highway Patrol, three vehicles were involved in a crash on Sunday morning in DeSoto County.

This happened near the intersection of SR-72 and Northwest Owens Avenue just after 11 a.m.

The first motorcycle, driven by a 73-year-old man from North Port, was stopped on the eastbound shoulder on SR-72. The second motorcycle was driven by an 83-year-old man and was traveling east on SR-72.

There was an SUV traveling west on SR-72. The first motorcycle was attempting to re-enter the roadway and hit the second motorcycle.

The second motorcycle then rotated and traveled into the path of the SUV. The left side of that motorcycle hit the SUV.

Both of the motorcycle drivers were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
