A Hendry County man is facing a DUI manslaughter charge after a crash last weekend left a woman dead.

The crash happened early Saturday on SR-80 near Lexington Parkway, east of LaBelle.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Jorge Cristhian Perez Amador, 32, of Moore Haven, caused a three-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 38-year-old North Miami woman. Three others and Amador were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Amador told investigators he had two beers at a Fort Myers bar before going to a friend’s house in LaBelle and was then heading home to Moore Haven when the crash happened.

He is facing charges of DUI manslaughter and driving on a suspended license causing serious bodily injury or death. Court records show his license was suspended in early June for a year for refusing to submit to a breath test when he was stopped on suspicion of DUI.

Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
