Adams Bezerra mug Credit: Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office A Charlotte County nurse turned himself in on Monday and was arrested for sexual battery. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, a woman filed a report in July of 2021, that a male nurse had had inappropriate sexual behavior with her twice. The nurse and suspect, Adams Soares Bezerra, 55, admitted to having sexual relations with the woman both times. According to her, the first time was during her stay at a medical facility in Charlotte County and the second time occurred at her home after she was discharged. Bezerra stated that he believed the sexual encounters were consensual. He cited “flirty” text messages between the two. The victim stated that she went along with the “flirty” texts out of fear that Bezerra would retaliate against her. Charlotte County deputies investigated and determined that the victim was not of sound mind at the time of the incidents and there could not legally give consent. CCSO issued a warrant for Bezerra’s arrest citing Florida State Statute 794.011(5). Authorities say Bezerra was cooperative throughout the investigation. Bezerra was arrested and could be charged with one count of sexual battery.
