A single mom says she fears for her safety after a SWAT team executed a search of her duplex. The mother says she was at home giving her baby a bath when the SWAT team came banging on the door.

Ring camera footage from outside Destiny Flowers’ home shows the SWAT team’s flashlights as they quickly closed in on her home. Flowers was bathing her baby as they approached, with her young son alone near the front door.

“I heard banging on the door,” Flowers said. “As I approached the door, I could hear them say, ‘Lee County SWAT, open the door.’ When I opened the door, immediately, they pulled me out of the house. I was holding my 10-month-old daughter. It’s 7:30. It’s cold outside, it’s dark. My daughter’s naked. No diaper, no clothes.”

What were the SWAT teams looking for? According to a search warrant that Flowers showed WINK News, it was a large amount of methamphetamine.

“‘This package contains approximately 280 grams of methamphetamine, which needs to be seized,'” Flowers said, reading from the search warrant. “Then they continue to ask questions. Do I know what’s in the package? Do I know my neighbors? They asked who my kid’s fathers were and if this package was intended for them. This package is not for me. I [want] some answers, an apology. Something.”

If the drugs didn’t belong to Flowers, how did that package end up in her home? She says she lives in a duplex. The package had her neighbor’s name on it, but also Flowers’ address, which is how she says LCSO tracked the package to her home.

“I open the door and there’s lights and guns drawn at me and my two kids,” Flowers said. “It doesn’t make me feel safe at all. I mean, that package… I don’t know who else is behind that package, you know, and you come in my home, and you do all this… it’s very, very, very embarrassing.”

Flowers still has a lot of questions: Was Flowers’ neighbor, or anyone else, arrested for this? Does LCSO believe this was a mix-up by the package sender or done on purpose to throw off deputies?

The sheriff’s office will only say its investigation is still active.
