Hit-and-run leaves motorcyclist in critical condition in North Fort Myers

A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a hit-and-run on North Cleveland Avenue in North Fort Myers on the morning of Feb. 12.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the crash occurred around 2:10 a.m. on North Cleveland Avenue, just north of Diplomat Parkway E. The motorcyclist was driving in the inside travel lane when he applied his rear brake. Witnesses at the scene say an unknown vehicle entered the motorcycle’s travel lane and clipped the motorcycle, causing its rider to lose control and crash. The motorcycle then slid off the roadway and overturned, throwing the rider off.

After the crash, the vehicle involved left the scene. The victim was transported to Gulf Coast Hospital with life-threatening critical injuries.

Anyone who was at the intersection or may have any information about this hit-and-run is asked to call SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477. All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000. Tips may also be made online or on the P3Tips mobile app.
