A man is under arrest, accused of stealing a front-end loader belonging to the Collier County Growth Management Department that was dumped in the woods nearby in January.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rodolfo Boix Fonseca, 30, for the theft. He is facing a charge of grand theft over $100,000.

The front-end loader was reported missing from a house under construction in Golden Gate Estates on Jan. 12. A Collier County deputy who responded to investigate found the piece of heavy equipment in the woods nearby.

In the front-end loader, deputies found cigarettes that had been smoked and court documents connected to a case involving Boix Fonseca.

Detectives learned that Boix Fonseca had an address a block away from where the construction equipment was stolen. Deputies arrested him on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on a criminal traffic citation. They say he provided them with a full confession and had the cigarettes on him that matched those found in the front-end loader.
