A man has been arrested after allegedly rear-ending a man on a motorcycle in Fort Myers, killing him.

The Fort Myers Police Department’s Traffic Homicide unit arrested 44-year-old Jamaine Alexander Washington on Tuesday.

Washington’s charges stem from a 5-month investigation into the fatal crash that occurred on the Caloosahatchee Bridge on Feb. 11, where 23-year-old Christian Hodson-Foote lost his life.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, Hodson-Foote was traveling northbound on the bridge on his motorcycle. Washington was also northbound on the bridge, excessively speeding when he rear-ended Hodson-Foote.

While on the scene, Washington lied to investigators and said he was a passenger, not the driver.

Washington remains in the Lee County Jail, Wednesday morning.

He’s being charged with vehicular homicide, driving with a suspended license and providing a false statement to law enforcement.
