The groundbreaking ceremony for the long-awaited Festival Park in the Northwest area of Cape Coral is finally taking place.

Festival Park will provide the city with event grounds, an outdoor concert venue and sports fields.

Other amenities include concessions and restroom building, multi-use sports fields with lighting, a grass berm for seating and electrical infrastructure for a future amphitheater.

In 2018, Cape Coral voters approved a $60 million expansion of the city’s parks and recreation amenities.

The approved 15-year general obligation bond will fund major parks and recreation improvements throughout the City.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Festival Park happened at 1030 NW 28th St. and on Friday morning.
