Slightly less humid start to the weekend

Published: Updated:

A weak cold front swept to our south bringing along slightly less humid air.

Our afternoon highs will still be in the low to mid 90s with sun and clouds as it is August in Southwest Florida after all!

The Weather Authority Meteorologist Lauren Kreidler said, “We will have the chance of seeing isolated showers and storms, but mostly due to some moisture down south…the bulk of our isolated showers and storms staying in our southern areas.”

However, we will take the slightly lower humidity as it will help to keep the heat index near actual temperatures.

Rain chances will be on the lower side this weekend, with isolated showers and storms possible for your Saturday and just a few showers possible on Sunday.

Boating

For the boaters, winds are out of the northeast shifting east reaching around 5 to 15 knots.

There’s a light chop in the bays and the water temperature in the Gulf is sitting at a warm 88 degrees.

Tropics

Looking at the tropics, Hurricane Ernesto made landfall in Bermuda early Saturday morning as a Category 1 hurricane with 85 mph winds.

Aside from Ernesto, we are not tracking anything else in the tropics.

Hurricane season ends on Nov. 30th!
