Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis provided an update regarding Hurricane Milton recovery efforts while in Zephyrhills.

During Tuesday’s news conference, the governor announced that power had been restored to nearly four million customers since Milton touched down.

Free gas station locations have distributed nearly 2.5 million gallons of fuel throughout the state to help aid motorists in need.

Debris removal efforts have been ongoing as local crews have been working to remove garbage and debris from roadways and Floridians’ properties.

Significant storm surge was reported in the areas affected by the hurricane’s eye; however, DeSantis remarked that the impacts were less effective than those by Hurricane Helene.

Forty-nine of the 50 school districts affected by storm closures have since reopened, and Hillsborough County will reopen at a later date.
