CITRUS COUNTY, Fla.- A plane crashed into a house in Inverness Monday afternoon.

WINK News confirmed the plane took off from Marco Island and was heading to Ocala. Officials say the plane clipped a power line and then struck the back porch of the home before landing directly in the backyard.

Only the pilot, identified as Joseph Smith, was onboard and flown to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The homeowners were inside at the time but not injured. Power crews are on scene trying to restore power to the home and fix the power lines.
